Invasive weed control

• Many of our local trails are plagued by invasive and annoying weeds, like burdock and houndstonge. Another weed of concern is myrtle spurge. This weed is raising havoc on the Wasatch Front but fortunately it has not spread widely in Cache Valley.
  • Hikers can help control these weeds, improving the trail experience for everyone:
    • Root out houndstonge and burdock plants before they go to seed
    • Watch for myrtle spurge and report any sightings of this troublesome weed to the Webmaster so volunteers from the Utah Native Plant Society can take steps to keep it from spreading (like it has in the Salt Lake area and along the Wasatch Front)
    • Learn about noxious weeds and invasive plants of concern to the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Service
