Jardine Juniper, June 1, 2014

What a beautiful day we had to hike to the Old Juniper, and what a group. Eighteen adventure seekers joined us, many familiar faces and several new friends. Roddy, Ron, Kris, Ally, Sue, Dave, Kathy, Alexi, Kennedy, Amber, Samantha, Denis, Jim, Dan, Jill and Deanna joined hike leaders Alex and Stephanie.

Sign Crossing
Butterfly
Roughly 1.25 miles into the hike we were faced with a substantial water crossing. Luckily we were prepared with a few cargo tie-downs and set up a makeshift hand rail. Along the way we saw several butterflies that stayed still long enough to be photographed.

Coralroot Penstemon Chokecherry
We also saw a wide variety of wild flowers including, balsamroot, wild geranium, bluebells, a few remaining glacier lilies (most had already gone to seed) and one coral-root orchid.

Lunch
. Finally, lunch time overlooking the Juniper and Cottonwood Canyon.

Thanks to Alex for the narrative, photos and GPS work.
